Sharon's baby has been sick, so today was the first day she and her husband could join me for dinner-- they took me to her favorite restaurant, Lei Garden, and ordered all the traditional dishes to welcome me to their city.
Apparently this is the only restaurant in Shanghai that serves this dish and you have to order it a week in advance. You dip the meat in a wasabi sauce.
Deep fried little fishes (they could not translate it) and a vegetable from Vietnam (also non translatable by my dinner party)
Shark Fin, ordered in advance to specially honor the guest (me)
Cilantro-y soup. To be eaten with the shark fin.
Nameless vegetable, super delicious.
Fried noodles with vegetables and scallops.
Duck egg, preserved several months in secret potions. Not my favorite. At all.
